We are proud to bring you Kite Fest in Pincher Creek, Alberta Canada.
Pincher Creek is located in the
picturesque South West corner of Alberta just under the Canadian Rocky
Mountains. This area is home to the world famous Chinook Winds and is an ideal
area to fly kites.
The event started as an idea from Anne Connellan. She gathered
a few sponsors and rented a tent, found a fantastic area to hold the event and
had the audacity to ask Canada's Premier Kite Flyer, Ray Bethel
to attend. To her suprise Ray took time off from his world travels, attend the
event and demonstrated his kite flying abilities to a handful of spectators. Ray
fell in love with the area and insisted that a second kite festival be held. She
also asked the Calgary Kite Club to attend and they also loved
the area.
So from a very few dedicated
people and a handful of spectators the event has grown until today there are
many thousands of spectators that make the third week end of July a "must
attend" event.
This is a FREE family fun filled weekend of dazzling, colorful
and fantastic displays of kites, windsocks, hot air balloons and demonstrations
of highly technical Kite Flying competitions.
